Cape Town International Airport is situated on the Cape Flats. The airport is the central hub for all domestic and international flights to the Western Cape. Approach from N2 Route to airport terminal                         International Departure Terminal

If you would like to know what the weather will be like on your arrival, see our weather link here.

The airport is situated approximately 10 minutes drive from Cape Town City Centre and 20 minutes drive to the Helderberg and Cape Winelands. General aircraft arrival approaches to the airport are either from over False Bay in the Winter Season (Table Mountain on the left) or from Table Bay in the Summer Season (Table Mountain on the right) . Both airport approaches offer passengers a view of Table Mountain and the Cape Peninsula and often pilots would show you a glimpse of Cape Point on arrival.

Luxury bus transfers and hotel transfers are available from the airport arrival terminal. Taxi services are also available (please ensure you use a registered service).

If you are transferring to a domestic flight on arrival you will have to move to the South end of the airport terminal building from where your flight will depart. If your flight is only later on in the day why not go and do some shopping and have a meal at one of the Victoria &Alfred Waterfront restaurants. A drive there should not take longer than 20 minutes and you could always catch a taxi back to the airport later. Remember to check your transfer flight's departure time with the domestic airline. Take a note of the domestic airline's local number at the airport. It may also help to book in your luggage first (if it is not automatically transferred) at the desk of the domestic airline.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Weather, Summer days can be up to 35 degrees Celsius and the Cape is renown for it's days where the South Easterly wind cools down the Cape and normally only picks up at about 14h00 onward. Tap water is safe to drink at the airport.

See our Tourism Tips and Advice Page if you are going to rent a car in Cape Town.
